The pool is open only during the dry season. This period usually spans from mid-August to late December. The exact dates depend on the Zambezi River's water levels. During high water, the pool is completely off-limits.
We recommend booking early for visits between September and November. Read our guide on the Best Time to Go for detailed seasonal changes.

Planning questions
Can you go to Devil's Pool from Zimbabwe?
Yes, you can cross the border from Victoria Falls town. You need to allow 1-2 hours for customs procedures. Read Zimbabwe border logistics for visa requirements and transport advice.
What happens if the water level is too high?
The pool is closed when the water flows too fast. This usually happens from January to July. Sometimes, operators open Angel's Pool instead. Read Pool Comparison for details.
Can I take my own photos at the edge of the falls?
Yes, but you should hand your camera or phone to the guides. They are expert photographers. They will take photos of you from a safe vantage point while keeping your device dry.
